Since opening Sage Funeral Home in Regina, one thing has truly stood out: the number of phone calls we receive every day from people just wanting to talk about end-of-life planning.
Some are just curious. Others are seriously considering moving their preneed funeral arrangements. And what’s become clear — especially as a newer provider in Regina — is that people are looking for something different. Not just different products, but a different experience: more comfort, more conversation, and less pressure.
Whether someone is exploring their options or wondering if they can move their plan to us, it’s always a privilege to have that conversation. One of the core values Sage was built on is education. We don’t upsell. We don’t overwhelm. We explain, we listen, and we help people feel confident. If we can bring peace of mind or shed light on options they didn’t know existed — that’s a win.
Why Would Someone Move Their Funeral Plan?
It might surprise you how often we hear this question:
“Can I move my funeral plan to a different provider?”
The answer is simple — yes, you absolutely can.
Some common reasons families decide to transfer:
They’ve moved to a new city or closer to family
They want better service or a more personal connection
Their values have shifted and they want eco-conscious or more modern options
The original funeral home was sold, management & staff have changed and no longer feels right
Bottom line: you’re not locked in. If your needs or preferences have changed, you have every right to make a change.
What Saskatchewan Law Says About Your Rights
Saskatchewan law fully supports your right to transfer your prearranged funeral plan.
Under Section 81 of the Funeral and Cremation Services Act, you can cancel a preneed contract at any time. Under Bylaws 6100 and 6150, you’re allowed to transfer your plan — whether it’s funded by trust or insurance — to another licensed provider.
