Wayne Buckle, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 71, after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.

Wayne is survived by his wife Susan, children Tracy Buckle (Regina) & Travis Buckle (Viet Nam), and grandchildren Tabin, Avery, Kaleb & Jaya Buckle (Regina), & sister Debbie Dowswell (Rob) of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Wayne was born in Port Arthur, ON, on September 18, 1954, to parents Dorothy & Lorne Buckle. In his early teens, he moved with his mother to live in Torrance, California, and returned later to finish his high school in Yorkton, SK, to be with his father & Buckle relatives. Once graduating from high school, he went to Calgary for a short while for college, then return to settle in Regina.

Wayne met Susan in 1989 at a singles dance in Regina at the then Centre of the Arts, and a few months later, they were a couple. It took Wayne a few years to gain the courage to propose and in 2001, Wayne & Susan were married. Many winter vacations were spent in one of their favourite places, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Wayne also was fortunate to be able to travel to Viet Nam, twice, before he retired, to visit his son.

Wayne was a Heavy Truck driver by trade and he took his training in 1990. For most of his career, he hauled dangerous goods – fuel, liquid nitrogen and then condensate for the oil industry. He retired from Truck Driving in 2019. After a few months of not being satisfied with sitting at home, he took a job as Courier for Dynacare/later LifeLab. Wayne retired from there the same year that Susan retired, in 2022, and the two of them, along with their 2 pets, took their RV south to New Mexico and Arizona for the winter. Upon returning to Regina in the Spring of 2023, Wayne was diagnosed with cancer. Following Chemotherapy in the winter of 2023 & spring of 2024, they were once again able to spend the winter of 2024/25 down in Arizona. But Wayne’s cancer didn’t stay at bay for long – it reared its ugly head again in March 2025. He rebounded enough to take their last RV trip in July 2025 out to Thunder Bay to visit Family.

Wayne loved watching his sports, especially the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Bears! He and Susan “fun bet” their way through the NFL seasons for 15 plus years. Let it be noted that Wayne owed Susan a fair amount of “fun money” when all was said and done! It was also during these sports events & with Wayne’s influence, that Susan became very proficient in using the “F” word!

A huge thank you to the special people involved with the Palliative Care programs – from Palliative Home Nurses, Home Care ladies, the Occupational Therapist Palliative Care people & the Palliative Care Unit Nurses of 3A at the Pasqua. Without these caring people, Wayne would not have been able to stay at home for as long as he did.

At Wayne’s request, no funeral service will be held. His ashes will be spread at a later date.
