Leslie Lonnie Yufrym, lovingly known as “Mouse” to his parents and “Lester” to his friends, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 48.

Born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Les grew up on a farm, a place that shaped his strong work ethic, down-to-earth nature, and appreciation for honest connections. Those early years stayed with him throughout his life and could be felt in the way he treated everyone he met.

Les dedicated his career to helping others, as a youth worker for troubled youth. He had a natural ability to connect- especially with kids who needed someone steady and genuine in their corner. He was well-liked and respected by the youth he worked with, not because he tried to impress them, but because he listened, cared, and showed up consistently. Many young lives were better because Les was a part of them.

Les is survived by his beloved spouse, Desiree Suehwold, whom he loved deeply, and his stepson, Troy Suehwold-Briltz, who held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his mother, Eileen Yufrym; his father, Lonnie Yufrym; his sister Lisa Yufrym, and her spouse Brad Wasyluk. He will be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends whose lives were touched by his warmth.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Rose and Stan Yufrym and his great- grandparents, Rose and George Yufrym.

Les enjoyed hitting the gym, hunting, fishing cooking, shopping and watching hockey- especially cheering passionately for the Washington Capitals. He also loved listening to old country music, with artists like George Strait always close to his heart. More than his hobbies, however, Les will be remembered for his personality. He was incredibly friendly, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and genuinely cared about what people had to say. He made others feel seen, heard and valued.

Whether you knew him as Mouse or Lester, he was someone who left a mark simply by being himself. His presence brought comfort, his kindness was constant, and his heart was open. He will be deeply missed, but the connection and love he shared will continue to live on through the many people who were lucky enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 PM on January 8, at the Regina Apostolic Church at 808 Assiniboine Ave E, Regina.  For those unable to attend the funeral service in person, the service will be livestreamed. The viewing link will be shared prior to the service.
