On August 19, 2025, Laur’Lei Celina Silzer of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away at home unexpectedly at the age of 64 years. Renowned for her sparkling personality and great taste in shoes, Laur’Lei had many careers. A proud alumna of Sheldon Williams Collegiate, her roots started at Roberts Poole as an account executive which extended to the worlds of advertising, politics, and community, working on several political campaigns and serving as Director of Communications for the Ministry of Justice. After leaving the public service, she took on the life of an entrepreneur and most recently ran her own business as a medical transcriptionist. As a life-long learner, she also earned her University Diploma in Arts from Athabasca University.

Laur’Lei was a great lover of animals, and her home never contained less than one dog or cat – and frequently many, including those on loan. Originally a farm girl, her love of dance took her through BC and Saskatchewan with competitions and performances. She was never one to miss a dance or a party. She was always the organizer of events, outings, and adventures amongst her friends. As a community builder, she not only engaged in provincial and federal politics but ran for council in Regina. Her voice carried not just in political circles but also in chorus with Sweet Adelines. If you were a friend of Laur’Lei’s, you were a friend for life; if you needed something, she was there for you no matter the day or time.

Predeceased by her parents Louis and Doris, she is survived and greatly missed by brother Quentin (Karen) Silzer, and sister Vaughndel (Rick) Irvine, nephew Ryder (Sharon) Irvine and their children Aubrey and Asher, niece Lauren (Rob) McLean, and their son Garrett, and by her long-time partner Jim Untereiner.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regina Humane Society or the animal charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. (doors open at 2:00 p.m.). A come-and-go reception will follow.
