It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frances (Fran) Lorraine Quintin (NEE: Langteigne), who passed away on Sept 29th, 2024 at the age of 83.
Fran is survived by her beloved husband, constant companion and one true love, Larry, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. She passed away peacefully in hospital on the day of her wedding anniversary with Larry devoutly by her side. Together, they had built a life rooted in faith and family values.
Fran grew up on a homestead near Lockwood, Saskatchewan. In her early days, she and her siblings would attend school by a horse drawn carriage and a cutter sleigh in the winter to a one room country schoolhouse called Floradale, and later on went to school in the town of Lockwood and then Lanigan. After graduation, Fran went on to attend Robertson Secretarial College and started her career in administrative support at the University of Saskatoon. It was at this time she was introduced to Larry through mutual friends and the two quickly became inseparable. After a brief courtship, they were wed on a beautiful day in September and went on to start their lives and their family in Saskatoon. After moving to Regina and taking an extended break to raise her two children, Fran returned to the work force, changing positions until retiring from her job at the Saskatchewan Institute of Arts Science and Technology.
While she enjoyed her jobs, Fran’s world was her family and friends, whom she treasured. Known for her kindness and her warm and generous spirit, she touched the lives of many. She had a quick wit, an excellent sense of humour and would excel at anything she put her mind to. As a child, Fran learned to play piano. At home with her family, she loved to play the organ and sing. She was a dedicated homemaker, a wonderful cook and baker and an avid gardener. She was passionate about her Christian faith and steadfastly read her bible daily. Although she had to live with diabetes from the time she was only 8 years old, she was always vigilant, making her health a priority. She was able to live a long and fulfilling life before complications arising from an unforeseen infection overtook her.
Fran was a devoted mother to Dale and Lara, and a proud grandmother to David. The youngest of the four children of Joe and Nora Langteigne (NEE: Killeen) of Lockwood, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her sister Sheila (Lamont), and survived by Gladys (Reimer) and Jerry, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss her.
In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held. Her ashes will be put to rest in the Lockwood cemetery in a private ceremony on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
